Mitchell News-Journal 4/12/06  
Mary Pitman Wise, 90, of Davenport Road, died Friday, April 7, 2006 in a 
Linville hospital. A native of Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the 
late Jeff and Zora Burleson Pitman, and wife of the late Roscoe Wise. She was a 
member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. 

Survivors include two sons, Herman Wise of Linville Falls, and Elmore Wise of 
Huntsville, AL; a sister, Myrtle Pitman of Spruce Pine; a brother, Sam Pitman 
of Marion; seven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the Grindstaff Memorial 
Chapel of Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine. Rev. Lonnie McClellan officiated. 
Burial was in Pisgah Methodist Church Cemetery. The family received friends 
from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
