MITCHELL COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Grace Garland Ward, 21 Jul 2004

BAKERSVILLE - Grace Garland Ward, 93, of Hwy. 261, died Wednesday, 
July 21, 2004 at McDowell Hospital. She was the daughter of the late 
John and Polly Greene McKinney, and wife of the late Mack Garland and 
the late Luther Ward. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Edith 
McCurry and Dona Gouge; and a grandson, Tim Hughes. She was a member 
of Cloudland Baptist Church.Survivors include her daughters, Lena Greene of 
Bakersville, and Maxie Hughes of Unicoi, TN; one granddaughter; two great 
grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. 
Funeral services were held at 8 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Henline-
Hughes Funeral Home in Bakersville. Revs. Danny Silvers and Max Holland 
officiated. Burial was at 11 a.m. Saturday in McKinney Cemetery on Maxie 
Lane. The family received friends from 6 p.m. until the service hour at 
the funeral home.
