JANE WATSON

SPRUCE PINE - Jane Watson, 84, of Greenwood Road, died 
Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2003 in a Spruce Pine rest home. She 
was the daughter of the late Young and Nancy Midyette 
Shackleford, and wife of the late Frank Hampton Watson. 
She was also preceded in death by a son, Frank H. Watson 
Jr., and a daughter, Laura Jane Watson. A member of Central 
Baptist Church, the Spruce Pine Women's Club, and Chapter 
T PEO, she had served on the Spruce Pine Community Hospital 
Board of Trustees, the Spruce Pine Library Board and the 
Mitchell County DSS Board of Directors.
Survivors include daughters, Nancy Burleson and Muffy 
Dayton, both of Spruce Pine; a sister, Audrey Hypes of 
Staunton, VA; four grandchildren; and one great grandson.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m.Saturday at Central 
Baptist Church. Revs. Jim Sutton and Larry Greene officiated. 
Burial was in Spruce Pine Memorial Cemetery. The family 
received friends from 2 p.m. until the service hour in the 
church fellowship hall. Memorial donations may be made to 
Central Baptist Church, 431 Oak Avenue, Spruce Pine, NC 
28777, or Hospice of Mitchell County, P.O. Box 38, Spruce 
Pine, NC 28777. Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine was in 
charge of arrangements.
