ADA WHETSTINE

MORGANTON - Ada Whetstine, 95, died Saturday, Mar. 29, 2003 in a 
Valdese hospital. A native of McDowell County, she was the daughter 
of the alte Hoy and Mary Thomas Grindstaff, and wife of the late 
Fred Whetstine. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, 
Mildred McFee and Mary Ethel Hollifield, and three grandchildren. 
She was a homemaker and attended Community Baptist Church in Morganton.
Survivors include four sons, Paul Whetstine of Marion, Howard 
Whetstine of Biloxi, MS, Arthur Whetstine of Albany, GA, and Franklin 
Whetstine of Candler; three daughters, Jenevieve Worley of Granite 
Falls, Louise Smith of Malhaoff, TX, and Francis Wilson of Morganton; 
one sister, Juanita Smith of Arkansas; 21 grandchildren; 30 great 
grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; and one great great 
great grandchild.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lily Branch Baptist 
Church. Revs. Billy Bollinger and Lloyd Harris officiated. Burial 
followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends from 7-9 
p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home.
