LONNIE WILCOX

BAKERSVILLE – Lonnie Wilcox, 64, of Saylors Lake Road, died Wednesday, March 
13, 2002 at Spruce Pine Community Hospital. He was the son of the late Calvin 
and Vena Buchanan Wilcox. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Sam 
Wilcox. A member of Emanuel Baptist Church, he was an equipment operator for 
the City of Baltimore in Maryland.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Hoilman Wilcox of the home; five sisters, 
Edith Grindstaff and Doris Welsh of Bakersville, and Pearl Penland, Lois 
England and Elizabeth Pate, all of Burnsville; two brothers, Clyde Wilcox of 
Bakersville, and Caroll Wilcox of Valdese; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 8 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Henline-Hughes 
Funeral Home in Bakersville. Rev. Skip Weiford officiated. Burial was at 11 
a.m. Saturday in Hoilman Cemetery. The family received visitors from 6-8 p.m. 
Friday at the funeral home.
