He was the son of the late Calvin and Vena Buchanan Wilcox. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Sam Wilcox. A member of Emanuel Baptist Church, he was an equipment operator for the City of Baltimore in Maryland. Survivors include his wife, Betty Hoilman Wilcox of the home; five sisters, Edith Grindstaff and Doris Welsh of Bakersville, and Pearl Penland, Lois England and Elizabeth Pate, all of Burnsville; two brothers, Clyde Wilcox of Bakersville, and Caroll Wilcox of Valdese; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 8 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home in Bakersville. Rev. Skip Weiford officiated. Burial was at 11 a.m. Saturday in Hoilman Cemetery. The family received visitors from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
