ERNEST WILSON SPRUCE PINE – Rev. Dr. W. Ernest Wilson, 88, of Greenwood Road, Spruce Pine, died Tuesday, August 1, 2001 at a Johnson City health care facility. A native of Boiling Springs, he was the son of the late James Newell and Eudella McKnight Wilson. Before retiring to Spruce Pine, he served multiple Presbyterian Pastorates in Virginia, Kentucky, Mississippi and North Carolina. Survivors include his wife, Georgiana Harper Wilson; daughters, Nancy W. Bishop of Pulaski, VA, Jane W. Stokes of Lexington, VA, and Laura W. Haberneck of Spruce Pine; sons, George A. Wilson of Clinton, UT, W. Thurston Wilson of Cartersville and Charles N. Wilson of Germany; five sisters, Lois W. Eby of Philadelphia, PA, Margaret W. Wilkinson of Richmond, VA, Nan W. Steele and Ferrie W. Axon both of Orangeburg, SC, and Catherine W. Cloud of Foley, AL; 11 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Friday in the Newdale Presbyterian Church. Revs. Mike Brazelle and Walter Styles officiated. Burial followed in the Newdale Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
