BILL WINTERS
SPRUCE PINE - Bill Winters, 73, of Creekside Lane, died Thursday, 
Aug. 8, 2002 at his home. He was the son of the late Barney and Annie 
Hughes Winters. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Opal Winters; 
and two brothers, Homer and John Herman Winters. A member of Beaver 
Creek Baptist Church, he enjoyed playing the fiddle and bluegrass music. 
He was retired from Baxters.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Carpenter Winters; a son, Kirk Winters 
of Spruce Pine; a sister, Ruby Baker of Spruce Pine; two grandchildren; 
and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Grindstaff Memorial 
Chapel of Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine. Revs. Alvin Carpenter and 
Steve Williams officiated. Burial was in Spruce Pine Memorial Cemetery. 
The family received friends from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral 
home.
