A native of Mitchell County, he was the son of the late L.J. and Eva Biddix Wiseman. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Stewart and Claude Wiseman, and sisters, Grace Acres, Bell Marcus and Linnie Carpenter. A WWII Army veteran, he received the Purple Heart. He worked for the National Park Service until his retirement. Survivors include his wife, Pauline Wiseman of the home; two daughters, Barbara Ann Sparks of Rolston, and Rosie Lee Griffith of Marion; a son, Eddie William Wiseman of Marion; a brother, Joe Wiseman of Marion; sisters, Joyce Riddle of Spruce Pine, and Ruth Lilly of Virginia; seven grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine. Revs. Cephus Renfro, Howard Forbes and John Crowder officiated. Burial followed in McKinney Gap Cemetery, with military graveside rites performed by the Mitchell County VFW Post 8060. The family received friends from 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
