MITCHELL COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Arthur Woody, 15 Mar 2005

GREENSBORO - Arthur Woody, 89, died Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at Moses Cone
Hospital. A native of Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Wyatt and
Loucretia Wise Woody, and husband of the late Margaret Proctor Woody. He was
also preceded in death by three brothers, Oakley, Roe and Lynn Woody. He was a
member and Sunday School teacher at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He was
owner of Arthur Woody Office Machines in High Point and was a U.S. Army
veteran of WWII.

Survivors include a son, Ronald Arthur Woody of Greensboro; a daughter,
Deborah Phelps of Greensboro; two brothers, Ted Woody of Bakersville, and Fred
Woody of Hickory; four sisters, Pearl Pittman and Merle Buchanan, both of
Hickory, Beulah Walton of Ft. Worth, TX, and Betty Buchanan of Charlotte; and
five grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Burial followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends from 6:30-
8:30 p.m. Thursday at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel. Memorial donations
may be made to The American Heart Association, 202 Centre Port Drive, Suite
100, Greensboro, NC 27409.
