NELLIE GARLAND YELTON

BAKERSVILLE - Nellie Garland Yelton, 81, of Hubert Yelton Road, died 
Monday, Mar. 31, 2003. She was the daughter of the late Garrett and 
Mary Green Garland, and wife of the late Hubert Yelton. She was also 
preceded in death by a brother, Roy Garland. She was a homemaker and 
attended The Church of Jesus Christ on Beans Creek.
Survivors include a daughter, Clara Jean Yelton of Bakersville; 
sisters, Hazel Stevens and Viola Masters, both of Bakersville, Fairy 
Mae Carver of Johnson City, TN, and Shirley Yelton of Finksburg, MD; 
brothers, Malone Garland of Bakersville, Mattie Garland of Glen Rock, 
PA, and Cecil Garland and Ernest Garland, both of Johnson City, TN; 
and two grandsons.
Funeral services were held at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of 
Henline-Hughes Funeral Home in Bakersville. Revs. G.B. Garland and 
Dallas Cook officiated. Burial was at 11 a.m. Thursday in Greene-Garland 
Cemetery at Fork Mountain. The family received friends from 6 p.m. until 
the service hour at the funeral home.
