RUTH MCKINNEY YORK
SPRUCE PINE – Ruth McKinney York, 73, of Doctor Howell Road, died Friday, 
June 21, 2002 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Ira and Nellie 
Grindstaff McKinney. She was a member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, John York of the home; two sons, Robert 
York of Sedro Wooley, WA, and Gene York of Spruce Pine; one sister, 
Dorathy Grant of Hendersonville; one brother, Edward McKinney of Spruce 
Pine; eight grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Grindstaff Memorial 
Chapel of Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine. Revs. Clifford Early and 
Richard Hollifield officiated. Burial was in Burnette Cemetery. The 
family received friends from 1 p.m. until the service hour at the funeral 
home.
