Last Will and Testament of Stephen Garland

Mitchell County
	In the matter of the Probate of the Last Will and Testament of Stephen 
Garland J.H. Greene being sworn says that on the 5th day of March 1875 he was 
Clerk  of the Superior Court of Mitchell County N.C. and that the annexed Will 
of Stephen Garland  was on that date duly proven before him according to law 
and was probated

Stephen Garlands Will
In the name of God, Amen
	I Stephen Garland of the state of North Carolina and County of 
Mitchell being in the decline of my age, knowing that man is doomed to die but 
of sound mind and memory acknowledging that it is Appointed for all men once 
to die make and ordain this my last will and testament that is to say 
principally and first of all I give David Garland the land where he now lives
and twenty five dollars in property Also Alic Garland is to have twenty five 
Acres where he now lives his life time After his death it is to fall back to 
the rest of the heirs if the said Alic Garland lives on said.  If not he has 
no right to sell or rent the said land of the last set of children.  And also 
Wesley Garland is to have the first piece I bought of David Forbes where David 
[Cricy?] now lives  Sewel Garland the ballance the said Forbes land joining.
Rickles Garland is to have fifty acres joining Alick's on the South side the 
ballance belongs to Elizabeth Garland her life time or as long as She remains 
my widow and at her death the said land is to belong to Nathan and William 
which is to be equally divided between the two Nathaniel and William  Also 
Millie five shaillings Stacey five Shillings Biddy one cow and one bed and 
furniture to it Caroline one cow and bed and furniture 	And I hereby utterly 
disallow revoke and disannul all and every other testament will legally the 
and executed by me in any vice before named will ar bequeathed reliving and
confirming and no other to be my last will and testament in witness my hand 
and seal this the 16" of March one thousand Eight hundred and seventy Four.
	Signed sealed publicly pronounced and delivered by the said Stephen 
Garland As his last will and Testament in the presents of each of us have 
hereunto subscribed our names.

	The annexed paper writing having been exhibited before me and the 
affidavit attached having been exhibited before me the same and every part 
thereof is adjudged to be the last Will and Testament of Stephen Garland and
