RECEIPT FOR DIRECT TAXES

This is to certify, that C. J. Bruton has this day paid to the 
undersigned the sum of Six ________ Dollars and Ninety Two 
Cents, that being the amount in full for taxes, penalty, interest and 
costs, charged under the Act of Congress, entitled “An act for the 
collection of direct taxes in insurrectionary districts within the 
United States, and other purposes,” approved June 7, 1862, upon 
the following tract or lot of land situate in the Co. of 
Montgomery, and State of N. C. and described as follows:
465 Acres Dist. 2 &
750 Acres on Thickety Creek Branch Dist. No. 1 this 750 acres 
belonging to Robt. Greene heirs assessed at $750.00
