Grissom This Indenture made, on the 6th day of November A.D. 1855 between Alson G. Cranford on the one part and Eli C. Grissom on the other part both of the county of Randolph and State of N. Carolina Witnesseth that the sd Alson G. Cranford for & in consideration of the sum of two hundred and fifty dollars to him in hand paid by the sd E. C. Grissom the rest whereof is hereby acknowledged in full be the said Alson G. Cranford hath this day given, granted, bargained & sold and by these presents doth give, grant, bargained and sell unto the sd E. C. Grissom his heirs and assigns a certain piece or parcel of Land lying and being in the County of Randolph and State afsd & bounded as follows Beginning at a red oak on the County line of Randolph & Montgomery, thence No. 31 chains & 63 links to a hickory thence ET. 31 ½ chains 13. Links to a stake thence SO. to the County line, thence W. to the first station. The sd Alson G. Cranford reserves to himself the one half of the spring & a half of acre of the above land at the spring for the privilege of using water. Containing one hundred acres be the same more or less to have and to hold together with all & singular woods, water, ways, mines, minerals, privileges & appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining to him the sd Eli C. Grissom his heirs and assigns free and discharged for any and all incumbances in fee simple forever and the sd Alson G. Cranford hath covenanted that now at the time of making this conveyance he hath full power and lawful authority to convey & assure the same in manner & form as aforesaid and said Alson G. Cranford hath covenanted & by & by these presents doth covenant for himself and his heirs and assigns to warrant and forever defend the title hereby conveyed from the lawful claim or claims of any and all persons whatsoever. In testimony whereby the sd Alson G. Cranford hath hereunto set his hand & affixed his seal, signed sealed and delivered in presence of Alson G. Cranford (Seal) Thos. Byrns E. B. Andrews North Carolina Randolph County Court of Pleas & Quarters Sessions May Term 1856. The due execution of this deed is acknowledged by Alson G. Cranford the Grantor therein, recorded & ordered to be registered. B.F. Hoover CCC North Carolina Randolph County This Deed is duly registered in Book 30 page 227 by me Jesse Lawrina C.R.
