Allen State of North Carolina Montgomery County This indenture made this the 28th day of December 1849 between Luke Sanders of the one part and James G. Allen of the other part both of the County & State aforesaid, that the sd Luke Sanders for the natural love & good affection I have toward my son in law Jas. G. Allen I give & bequeath to the sd Jas. G. Allen a certain negro girl slave named Violet age about thirteen years valued at two hundred & ninety Dollars to have and to hold to his use & his heirs Exrs or admin. forever and I the sd Luke Sanders do warrant and forever defend this right & title of sd slave against all claims whatever, Given under my hand and seal, in the presence of A.
