Parnell Know all men by these presents that I Thomas J. Parnell of the county of Montgomery and State of N. Carolina in consideration of fifty five dollars to me in hand paid by L. N. Parnell of the county & State aforesaid the recp whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained & sold & by these presents doth grants, bargain, sell and convey to the sd L. N. Parnell the following personal property to wit one work steer one heifer two years old, eight head of hogs, also my entire crop of wheat to have and to hold to the said L. N. Parnell, his heirs, exec & admin forever free and discharged from all and every encumbrances whatsoever & the better security of the title hereby conveyed. I for myself my heirs, exec & admin & assigns do warrant & forever defend the same from the lawful claims of all persons whatever. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this the 9th day of May 1859. Signed, sealed & delivered in the presence of Thomas J. Parnell (Seal) The condition of this obligation is such, that if the sd Thomas J. Parnell shall truly & faithfully paying good & lawful money with all the interest that may accrue unto the sd L. N. Parnell the following sums to wit one note for Nineteen dollars & thirty six cents, also another note for eleven dollars & thirty six cents, also a Judgement for ten dollars principal wherein the said L. N. Parnell is security, also another note made payable to Auror (sp) T. Parnell wherein the sd L. N. Parnell is security by the 25th day of December 1860. Then these presents every past & clause thereof shall be void, otherwise to remain in full force and effect.
