T. S. Green & wife to Calvin Crouch & W. T. Baldwin        Deed

    This indenture made this the 13th day of March AD 1871 between
Thos. S. Green and wife, Kizah T. Green of the county of Montgomery
and State of North Carolina of the one part and Calvin Crouch and W.
T. Baldwin of the county and state afore said of the second part.
Witnesseth that the said parties of the first part for and in
consideration of the sum of Three Hundred and Fifty Dollars to the
said parties of the first part in hand paid the receipt of which is
hereby acknowledged have sold and conveyed and do hereby sell and
convey to the said parties of the second part the said Calvin Crouch
and W. T. Baldwin their heris and assigns all that tract of land or
all of my interest in said tract lying in the county of Montgomery on
the waters of Cheeks and Thickety Creek which was orginally granted
to Robert Green AD 1803 and which in a division among there (sic)
heirs on the 14th of April AD 1866 was allotted to Thomas S. Green,
Son of Claiburn Green, Deceased, being near Pekin in said county and
bounds as follows viz. Beginning at a Spanish Oak in the third line
of the old tract and runs S. 50 W. 64 poles to a past Oak.  Thence N.
20 E. 84 poles to a past Oak. Pools corner.  Then S. 46 E. 395 to the
beginning.  Containing more or less One Hundred Sixty Eight acres to
have and to hold the same with all the appartemances there unto
belonging to them the said Calvin Crouch & W. T. Baldwin their heirs
and assigns forever and the said Thomas S. Green and wife Kizia Green
do have by warrant and defind the title to the said land. To the said
Calvin Crouch and W. T. Baldwin their heirs and designs forever, free
from all encumbrances what so ever.  In witness whereof the said
parties of the first part have hereunto set their hands and seals the
date being above written. Signed sealed and delivered in the presents

personally appeared before me John Bogan a Justice of the Peace of
Montgomery County Kezia T. Green wife of Thomas S. Green and
acknowledged the due execution of the foregoing deed of conveyance
and the said Kezia T. Green being by me privately examined separate
and apart from her said husband touching her vouluntary execution of
the cause doth state that she signed the said freely and voluntarily
without fear fo compulsion of her said husband or any other persons
and that she doth still voluntarily assert there to Witness my hand
and seal this 12th day of January AD 1872.

State of North Carolina To:             Greeting

Whereas Calvin Crouch and W. T. Baldwin hath produced a deed of
conveyance made to them from Thomas S. Green and Kezia T. Green his
wife of a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the
county of Montgomery in our and porcued the same to be proven by the
said Kizia T. Green before me Judge of Probate of said county and it
being represented to our said count that is required by law that
Kezia T. Green wife of the said T. S. Green to be privately examined
as to



here free consent in executing the said conveyance.  Know ye that
repasing confidence in your ________________ I now appoint you and
and by these presents do give unto you full power and authority to
take the pivily examination of the said K. T. Green wife of the said
T. S. Green concerning her free consent in executing the said
conveyance and therefore command you that at such certain day and
place as you shall think proper of it you go to the said K. T. Green
if she cannot come to you and privily and apart from her said husband
examine her  whether she executed the said conveyance freely and of
her own accord and will and without fear of compulsion of her
husband.  The examination being plainly and distinctly written on the
said deed or some paper annexed thereto and when you have taken this
examination you are to send the same closed up under your seal
together with this commission to our said count of Probate.

8th day of December year of our Lord 1871.
