Town Monthly Minutes Pages 113-114 Troy, N.C. Aug. 17, 1911 The board of Commissioners for the town of Troy met in called session on above written date the following members being present: C. J. Poole, Mayor J. C. Hurley} Commissioner R. T. Poole} Commissioner Dr. J. A. Sisk} Commissioner J. W. Benson} Commissioner Z. F. Cranford, Marshall Dr. C. Dehegny (sp), Health Officer The Thirty Seven Ordinances for the town of Troy were read, one at a time and upon motion, duly seconded and carried, the following amendments were ordered made: 1st. That the various ordinances having a fixed penalty of $5.00 for each and every offense be made to read “not exceeding $10.00 for each and every offense.” Meaning that in the discretion of the Mayor, the aggregation of the case, etc, the penalty may be fixed at anywhere from $1.00 to $10.00. 2nd. That ordinance no. 24 be stricken out. 3rd. That ordinance no. 25 read $2.50 instead of $5.00. 4th. That ordinance no. 31 be stricken out. 5th. That ordinance no. 32 be stricken out. 6th. That ordinance no. 35 be amended by striking out license privilege part and that the ordinance in full read: It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation within the town of Troy to sell or dispense of any Fire Works of any kind and the finding of such Fire Works in Store or in possession of any person, firm or Corporation shall be prima fascia evidence of the violation of this ordinance and upon conviction shall be fined not exceeding $25.00 (Twenty five Dollars.) 7th: That ordinance no. 33 be amended with the following proviso: “Provided moving picture shows be permitted to exhibit by paying Five Dollars per day.” 8th. That ordinance no. 34 be amended with the following proviso: Provided this ordinance shall not apply to producer selling or dispensing sweet cider made from fruit grown on his own premises direct to consumer. Troy, N.C. Aug. 17, 1911 Minutes Concluded Ordered: That C. J. Poole, Mayor have forty of fifty copies of Town ordinances as just revised and amended, published on cardboard provided the coast of said printing does not exceed $1.25 or $1.50.
