DIED: Near Hillsboro, in Orange county, on the 26th of January, 1872, at the
residence of her son, F.M. Jordan, the 77th year of her age, Mrs. Mary
Jordan, consort of John Jordan, deceased.  She was a consistent member of
the Baptist church for sixty one years, and died in the full triumphs of
faith with a full assurance of a best immortality.  Her body sleeps in the
church yard at Mars Hill, of which church she was a member.  She leaves six
children, all professors of religion.  Her house was ever the house of
ministers; she always loved those best who seem to love Christ most.  Just
before her death she joined in singing feebly, though distinctly, that good
old hymn, 'How Firm a Foundation'
Dearest mother thou hast left us,
Here thy loss we deeply feel.
But 'tis God that hath bereft us,
He can all our sorrows heal.
