C. Serving as the Alumni chairman of the Greensboro College Alumni Family Council is Mrs. Charles Stanback of Mt. Gilead. Also known as Della Ingram, Mrs. Stanback graduated from Greensboro College with the class of 1876 and has the distinction of being the oldest living Alumni of Greensboro College. At present she is living in Miami, Fla,, with her daughter Eleanor Stanback who graduated from Greensboro college with the class of 1924. Mrs. Stanback is well known in the Piedmont section of the Carolina as her two sons, Thomas and Fred, are owners of Stanback Inc. of Salisbury, manufactures of the headache remedy. The G. C. Alumni Family Council will serve in the advisory capacity with Alumnae throughout the state of North Carolina and with the Alumni class chairmen who have been designated as representatives of their classes for Campaign purposes. Each chairmen will maintain correspondence with the members of her class, advising them of her progress of the Campaign and the manner of which they can best serve their college. The Greensboro College of Endowment and Building Fund Campaign organization is now actively engaged in raising funds for the five point building program to include; Gymnasium and Swimming Pool, science classroom building, dormitory, James Addison Jones Library, and the Hannah Brown Finch chapel. These five new building represent additional facilities needed for the completion program of Greensboro College in anticipation of total student body enrollment of 500.. Additional Comments: Mrs. Stanback Dies in Fla. Mrs. Charles Stanback 97, of Mt, Gilead, mother of Tom and F. J. Stanback of Salisbury died Sunday morning at the home of a daughter, Miss Eleanor Stanback, in Miami Fla. The former Della Ingram, she was a native of Montgomery County, born August 12, 1859, daughter of the late William Braxton and Frances Burkett Ingram. She was a graduate of Greensboro College, of which she was the oldest living alumni. At the age of 19, she married Charles Stanback of Richmond County. They made their home in Byhalia Mississippi, returning to Mt. Gilead after about 10 years. Mr. Stanback proceeded her in death in 1927. Mrs. Stanback was the mother of 11 children, seven of whom survive; W. J. Stanback of Mt. Gilead, T. M. and F. J. Stanback Salisbury, H. I. Stanback of East Orange N. J., C. L. Stanback of Miami, Fla., Mrs. J. M. Marshall of Marshall VA, and Mrs. Eleanor Stanback of Miami Fla. Also Surviving are 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. Gilead Methodist Church, of which Mrs. Stanback was a longtime member. Burial will follow in the Sharon Cemetery.
