Samuel Bruton Marriage
State of North Carolina, Montgomery County.
Office of Register of Deeds, January 6, A.D. 1875
To any Ordained Minister of any Religious Denomination, 
Or any Justice of the Peace for said County:
M.D. Williams having applied to me for a License for the 
Marriage of Samuel Bruton of Montgomery Co., aged 22 years, 
color, colored, the son of Willis Bruton and Mary Bruton, the 
father now living, the mother living, resident of Montgomery Co.
And
Tabitha Pemberton of Montgomery, aged 20 years, color, colored, 
daughter of Hubbard Pemberton and _____ Pemberton, the father 
living, the mother living, resident of Montgomery Co.
And there being no legal impediment to such Marriage known to 
me, you are authorized, at any time within one year from the date 
hereof, to celebrate the proposed Marriage at any place within the 
said County.
You, are required within two months after you shall have 
celebrated such Marriage, to return this License to me, at my 
office, with your signature subscribed to the Certificate under this 
License, and with THE BLANKS THEREIN FILLED 
ACCORDING TO THE FACTS, under the penalty of forfeiting 
TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS to the use of any who shall sue for 
same.

Bruton and Tabitha Pemberton, the partied Licensed above, on the 
7 day of Jany 1875, at Scuffleton in Edinton Township, in said 
County, according to law.
