Rowan Marriage Bond 1799
State of North Carolina,}
            Rowan County,}

Know all Men by these presents, That we WILLIAM HEARN, V. JACOB SKEAN in the 
state aforesaid, are are held firmlybound unto ? OSBORNE  Esquire,Chairman of 
the court of the county aforesaid, in the just and full sum of Five Hundred 
Pounds, current money of this state,to be paid to the said Chairman, or his 
successors or assigns: To the which payment well and truly to be made and done, 
we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and adminisrators. Sealed with our 
seals, and dated this 29th day of November, anno Dom. 1799

The Condition of the above obligation is such, That wheres the above bounden 
WILLIAM HEARN hath made application for License for a marriage to be celebrated 
between him and RUTH SKEAN(SKEEN) of the county aforesaid: Now in case it shall 
not appear hereafter, that there is any lawful cause to obsruct the said 
marriage, then the above obligation to be void, otherwise to remain in full 
force and virtue.
