Decd was exhibited and proven in open court by the oath of Etheldred Harris and West Harris, Jun. subscribing witness thereto and ordered to be recorded. Mary Tindle and John Crump, Esq. Came into court and qualified as executrix and executor of the last will and testament of James Allen, decd. In the Name of God amen I James Allen of Montgomery County in the state of North Carolina planter being in a good state of health mind and memory thanks be to God, therefore calling to mind the mortality of body and knowing that is appointed for all men once to die, I do constitute and ordain this my last will and testament that is to say Principally and first of all I commend my body to the earth to the buried in a Christian like and decent manner at the discretion of my executors. Nothing doubting but at the general Resurrection of all shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God; and ------ such worldly estate, wherewith is please God to bless me with in this life, I give devise and desire in the following manner and form, I give and bequeath unto my daughter Polly Allen two Negroes viz. Cesar, and Hannah, also two hundred acres of land in Montgomery County and state of North Carolina on Bigg Creek joining William McCurrey’s land and bed and furniture and two cows and calves I give and bequeath unto my daughter Sally Allen two Negroes, Viz. Roger and Young Jude also two hundred acres of land in Montgomery County and State of North Carolina on the Yadkin River including Shearson Mountain, one bed and furniture and two cows and calves, I give and bequeath unto my son William Robert Allen one Negro wench Viz. Bess, also five hundred acres of land in Montgomery County and state of North Carolina on the South side of the Yadkin River including the plantation whereon I now live and that belongs to the south side of the Narrows of the Yadkin River, two cows and calves and one dishes Item, I give to my wife Mary Allen all the remainder part of my estate that is left, after my debt is discharged to her and her heirs forever, and if the debts devised should not be sufficient to discharge what I am owing then such part of my estate that debt has to be sold at her discretion to discharge the same, and of this my last will and testament do make, constitute, nominate and appoint my said wife executrix and John Crump Executor, making all former wills by me void ratifying and confirming this my last will and testament - For witness thereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the 12th day of June A.D. 1760??
