Cranford deceased is exhilarated before me the undersigned Clerk of the Supreme Court for said county by T.B. Saunders the executor therein mentioned and the due execution thereof by the said H.C. Cranford is proved by the oath and examination of B.A. Davis and L.J. Brown the subscribing witness thereto who being duly sworn doth diposeth and saith that he is a subscribing witness to the paper writing now shown him purporting to be the last Will and Testament of H.C. Cranford that the said H.C. Cranford in the presence of this deponent subscribed his name at the end of said paper writing which is now shown as aforesaid and which bears date of the 7th day of January 1926. And This Deponent Further Saith, That the said H.C. Cranford the testator aforesaid did at the time of subscribing his name as aforesaid declare the said paper writing so subscribed by him and exhilarated to be his last Will and Testament and this deponent did thereupon subscribe his name at the end of said Will as an attesting witness thereto and at the request and in the presence of said testator. And this deponent further saith that at the same time when the said testator subscribed his name to the said last Will as aforesaid and at the of the deponents subscribing his name as attesting witness thereto as aforesaid the said H.C. Cranford was of sound mind and memory of full age to execute a Will and was not under any restraint to the knowledge to the knowledge information or belief of this deponent And further these deponents say not. B.A. Davis L.J. Brown Severally sworn and subscribed this 24th day of October 1931 before me. Edgar Haywood Clerk of Supreme Court Superior Court State of North Carolina} In the Superior Court Montgomery County} Before the Clerk In the Matter of the Will of H.C. Cranford I Edgar Haywood Clerk of the Superior Court of the said County of Montgomery having examined the foregoing instrument purporting to be the last Will and Testament of H.C. Cranford and having heard the testimony of B.A. Davis and L.J. Brown subscribing witnesses thereto in relation to the execution of the same, do declare and adjudge said instrument of the said H.C. Cranford late of Montgomery County deceased. And having examined the foregoing instrument, purporting to be a codicil to the said last Will and Testament of H.C. Cranford and signed by H.C. Cranford and having heard the testimony of B.A. Davis and Eliza Hamilton subscribing witnesses thereto in relation to the execution of the same do declare and adjudge said instrument to be a codicil to the said last Will and Testament of the said H.C. Cranford, deceased, late of Montgomery County. Let said Will and the codicil thereto attached together with the probate be recorded and filed. This 24th day of October 1931. Edgar Haywood Clerk of Superior Court North Carolina Montgomery County I, H.C. Cranford of the aforesaid Co. and state, being of sound mind and memory do make and declare this my last Will and Testament: 1st. My Executor shall give my body a decent burial and place a monument to my and my first wife grave to the amount of (250.00) each. 2nd. I give and bequeath to my beloved wife C.C. Cranford ($500.00) Five Hundred in cash to satisfy her dower together with all house hold and kitchen furniture that already belongs to her. 3rd. I give and bequeath my oldest daughter Dora Kearns the wife of Richard Kearns the sum of $2500 Dollars in cash. 4. I give and bequeath to my second daughter Flora Ellison the wife of Joe Ellison $2500 in cash. The amount that I give to Dora Kearns and Flora Ellison is to make them equal with my third daughter Cora Davis in land and timber which I have already given her valued at $2500. 5. I give and devise to my oldest son Henery R. Cranford $1000 dollars in cash and one half interest in the mill tract of land known as the Bean Mill tract also another tract of land known as where Relus (sp) Newsom lived the part of the Enoch Callicutt tract the part on the East side of Barns Creek also another tract known as a part of the Henery Saunders land adjoining Cora Dennis on the West and North and Henery Saunders land on the East and on the South by Eldon McLeod to have and to hold in fee simple his heirs and assigns. 6. I give and bequeath unto my youngest daughter Pollie Saunders the wife of T.B. Saunders the sum of $2500 in cash. 7. I give and bequeath unto my youngest son Rex Cranford $1500 dollars in cash and all my stock in the Bank of Montgomery in the Town of Troy, being the amount of $1000. 8. I give and devise unto my grandson Eldon McLeod my h9ome bounded as follows, Beginning at the bridge across Barns Creek at the bean Mill and runs East with the Ck. To and beyond the Strider Creek to a little branch then with the branch to the ford of said branch thence south within five steps to a wire fence on the North side with said fence to the branch thence with the branch to Cora Dennis line thence S.W. with her line to N.S. Hamilton's line with his line S.W. to the corner of the Mill tract thence E. to the beginning containing 90 acres more or less to have and to hold in fee simple his heir and assigns. All other land which being two tracts namely 35 acres known as the Jacob Saunders land, 75 acre on the Long Mountain together with all personal property not mentioned in this will to be divided among my children in equal share. I hereby constitute and appoint my trusty son Rex Cranford and my son-in-law T.B. Saunders as my lawful Executors to all intents and purposes to execute this my last Will and Testament. In witness whereof, I the said H.C. Cranford do hereunto set my hand and seal. This the 7th day of Jan. 1926. H.C. Cranford (Seal) Signed, sealed, published and declared by the said H.C. Cranford to be his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who at his request and in his presence and in the presence of each other do subscribe our names as witnesses thereto. Witness: B.A. Davis J.L. Brown North Carolina Montgomery County I H.C. Cranford having made and duly executed my last Will and Testament in writing being date Jan. 7th 1926 now I do hereby declare this present writing to be as a codicil to my said Will and the same to be annexed thereto and taken as part thereof: and I do hereby give bequeath to my wife Cornealia C. Cranford Five Hundred dollars more that I mentioned in my will. And I further bequeath to my grand-son Elden McLeod Five Hundred dollars more than I mentioned in my will. And I further bequeath to my oldest son H.R. Cranford Four Hundred Dollars more than mentioned in will. And I further bequeath unto my youngest son Rex Cranford $1000 One Thousand Dollars more than I mentioned in my will. In witness whereof, I the said H.C. Cranford have to this codicil set my hand and seal. This the 11th day of Feb. 1931 H.C. Cranford (Seal) Signed, sealed and published by said H.C.
