I Kenneth McLennan of the County of Montgomery and State of North Carolina do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following. First, I give to my wife Sarah McLennan the land on which I now live with all its appearances and all my household and kitchen furniture, waggon and Smith tools during her natural life. Also the Negroes Sep, Bet, Rachel, Joe, Ned and Pat. Also, all my stock of Horses and Cattle of every description except one horse which is now claimed by my son Martin. To my daughter Ann Martin I give the boy Sam. To my son Alexander McLennan I give the boy Dave. To my son Martin McLennan I give the boy Jacob. To daughter Flora McLennan I give the boy Bob and one bed with its furniture. To my sister, Effy McLennan I leave the sum of fifty Dollars which is to be paid to her in equal portions by my heirs Alexander McLennan, Martin McLennan, Flora McLennan and Ann Martin. After my wife death I wish my son Martin A. McLennan to have and keep possession of all my lands, the waggon and shop tools. The rest of the remaining Negroes and property I wish equally divided among all my heirs. In witness whereof I here unto set my hand and seal this the 27th January 1851. (signed) Kenneth McLennan.
