I give and devise to my beloved wife Margaret three negro men and two negro womans of her one choice during her lifetime then to be equally divided between the legates. Also my plantation waggon and horses during her lifetime, then for the plantation waggon and horses to be given to my son Alexander W. McLennon. Item 2. I give and devise to my son Alexander W. McLennon one negro boy named Cnach (?) and the rest of my negroes to be equally divided between my son Allexander W. McLennon, Calvin H. Rush and wife Malinda and Thomas Haltom and wife Elizabeth share and share alike. Item 2. Furthermore I give and devise to my wife Margaret five head of cows and calves of her choice also my household and kitchen founiture during her life time then to be equally divided betwin my children also my stock of hogs and sheep during her lifetime then to be equally divided between my children and the remainder of my cattle to be equally divided between the legattes at my death. Item 4. My will and desire is that my share in the gold mine known as the Carter mine near Troy shall be equally divided between my children share and share alike. In testimony whereof I here unto set my hand and seal this 20th day of April AD 1857. M.B. McRae Rodk McLennon (Seal) Allen McLennon State of North Carolina Court of Pleas and Quarter Montgomery County Sessions October Term A.D. 1857 A paper writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Roderick McLennon, dec., is exhibited for probate in open court, and the due execution thereof by the said Roderick McLennon is proved by the oath and examination of M.B. M.Rae and Allen McLennan, the subscribing witnesses thereto. It is therefore considered by the court that the said paper writing and every part thereof, is the last will and testament of the said Roderick McLennan and the same is ordered to be recorded and filed. And it appearing to the court that no executor is named in said will. On motion it is ordered and decreed by the court that Alexander McLennan be appointed Administrator with the will annexed upon his entering into bond the sum of sixty thousand dollars with Martin Rush, M.B. Mrae, James F. green and Sml. Christian sureties whereupon the said Alexander W. McLennan comes into open court and gives the required bond and is duly qualified as Administrator with the will annexed on the Estate of Roderick McLennan decd.
