Sears of the other part both of the County of Moore & State of N.Carolina. Witnesseth that the said William Cole for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and fifty eight dollars to him in hand paid by the said W.W. Sears at and before the signing and delivering of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath bargained sold and delivered and by these presents do bargain sell and deliver to the said W.W. Sears a certain tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the county of Moore on the waters of the Lick Creek Branch beginning at a stake James Dowds corner 2 pines & post oak painters ?? N 17 1/2 W 19 ch. to a pile of rock a Black Jack & post oak & 2 pine painters thence So 73W 19ch 25 links to a Black Jack Zacy Jones’s corner thence with ? him? So 17 1/2 E 22ch to a pine & Black Jack then to the beginning containing Forty acres more or less the life right of Polly Cox, widow of Holden Cox decd is hereby execpted & reserved in so much of the above named lands as it will cover it being alloted to her for dower to have & to hold the said lands with all the appointances & hereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining to the only proper use and benefit of the said W.W. Sears his heirs executors and administration and assisns forever and the said William Cole doth for himself his heirs and assisgns do warrant and forever defend the right and title of the said lands against the just claim or claims of any person or persons whatsoever in testimony whereof the said William Cole hath presented set his hand and seal the day and year first above written signed sealed and delivered in presence of William Cole (Seal) Witnesses: Wm L Sullivan Moore County Court office The due execution of the foregoing deed was duly proven before me in said office on the 7th July 1862 by the oath of W L Sullivan the subscribing witness thereto let the same be registered A.H.
