DIED,

   At Pensacola, Floria, of typhoid fever, Mr. Wm A. S. BUCHAN, aged 34 years 
and 3 months, a native of Moore county, N. C.  He was among the first to 
volunteer in Alabama, where he has resided since 1847, and was sent to 
Pensacola, where he remained till his death.

He was a consistent member of the Presbyterian church at Bethel, Ala.  He has 
left an aged father and many friends in North Carolina to mourn his death.
