MRS. MARY DOUGLAS, daughter of ELON and MARY HERRINGTON, was born in Moore 
County, North Carolina, Feb. 27th 1802. She married SILAS DOUGLAS on Oct. 20, 
1818. She died June 16, 1874. Ten children were reared to maturity. One son 
was slain in the battle of Shiloh. Three of her sons and one grandson are now 
ministers of the Gospel. In 1857, sister DOUGLAS, with her husband and most of 
the family removed to Alabama and settled near Orion, Pike County. She was 
buried in the new cemetery in the city of Troy.
