SARAH JOHNSON ROBERTSON

   Mrs. Sarah Johnson Robertson of Norfolk, a former resident of the Franklin 
community, died unexpectedly Monday night, August 20, at 10 o’clock in a 
Wadesboro, N.C., hospital.

   Returning from a trip to South Carolina, Mrs. Robertson was driving through 
North Carolina when she felt ill and pulled into a gasoline station. She was 
taken to a Wadesboro hospital, where she died a few hours later.

   Mrs. Robertson was the widow of W. Frank Robertson of Norfolk. She was a 
native of Wagram, N.C., and moved to Southampton County in 1902, living near 
Franklin. She went to Norfolk about 1908. A teacher in the Norfolk school for 30 
years, she was known affectionately to many as “Miss Sally.” She retired in 
1937.

   She was a member of Freemason Baptist Church in Norfolk and was active in the 
work of the church.

   Surviving are two stepdaughters, Mrs. Annie R. Cason of Norfolk and Mrs. 
George W. Eutsler of Kingsport, Tenn.; a stepson, William A. Robertson of 
Norfolk; five nieces, Mrs. J.M. Kilgore of Philadelphia, Pa.; Mrs. William A. 
Wright, Jr., of Smithfield; Mrs. J. Floyd Briggs, Jr., of Franklin; Mrs. Frank 
S. Trantham of Birmingham, Ala.; and Mrs. Ralph W. Smith of Thomasville, Ga.; 
and two nephews, James A. Johnson, Jr., of Richmond and John W. Johnson of 
Savannah, Ga.

   Funeral services were conducted today (Thursday) at 4 o’clock at the 
Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Norfolk, by Rev. Beecher L. Rhodes. Burial was in 
Forest Lawn Cemetery.
