Shields near Carters' mills, on Wednesday night, Dec. h2th {12th}, the marriage ceremony of Mr. Shield's youngest daughter, Miss Emma, to Mr. Joseph R. Allen of Montgomery county, was solemnized. The ceremony being performed by Rob't Melton, J.P., in the presence of quite an assemblage of guests. At 7 o'clock the attendants marched into the parlor in the following order: Mr. J.B. Allen with Miss Minnie Cochran; Mr. Hugh Shields with Miss Dora Allen, following the attendants came the bride and groom. Immediately after the ceremony was performed the bridal party adjourned to the dining room where an elegant repast awaited them. Next morning the bridal party set out for the home of Mr. J.C. Allen, the groom's father, where a very nice dinner was served. Here the party separated- --Mr. Allen carrying his beautiful young bridge {bride} to see his bachelor home in Montgomery, where from what I can learn, his Montgomery friends gave them a hearty welcome in the shape of a bell crowd. The writer wishes the happy couple a long life and much happiness.
