Nash County, NC - Samuel William Marshbourne ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ He lived in Nash County, North Carolina and moved to Fayette County, Georgia about 1858-1859. He was elected Fayette County Sheriff and he owned a 202 acre farm there. He formed The Fayette Planters and was assigned as the Commanding Officer of the 53rd Georgia Infantry. He was a true Civil War hero. He fought in at least seven major battles. Some of them were: Fredricksburg Antetium Gettysburg Chancellorsville These were the bloodiest and most horrible of the war. He was wounded several times and shot and lost his leg and died after the battle of Cedar Creek, Va. in October–November 1864. His grave was never found but thought to be in in this area in Virginia. I'd love to hear from any of his relatives that remained in North Carolina. He had three brothers and sisters. It is important that he not be forgotten. ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
