JOINER NASH COUNTY DEED BOOK 16, page 509, 510 Dated 16 January 1840 This indenture made and entered into this 16 day of January in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and forty, between EXUM L. JOINER of the County of Nash and state of North Carolina of the one part and KINCHEN EDWARDS of the County of EDGCOMB and state aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of Fifty Dollars to me in hand paid by the said KINCHEN EDWARDS at and before the signing and sealing of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have bargained and sold and by these presents, doth bargain and sell unto him the said KINCHEN EDWARDS his heirs, executors administrators and assigns forever any undivided interest in and to two certain tracts of lands situated and lying and being in the county of Nash aforesaid on the waters of Tar River and bounded by the lands of the said Kinchen, DELILAH JOINER, it being the lands and severments which HARDY JOINER gave by will to his wife ELIZABETH during her lifetime or widowhood or which was assigned to her by dower as the case may be reserving her life estate in said lands and tenements containing by two deeds from HENRY BUNN to HARDY JOINER, ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY FIVE AND 1/2 ACRES, the same more of less to have and to hold the above divided lands & tenements to him the said KINCHEN EDWARDS his heirs, executors , administrators and assigns forever and further I the said EXUM L. JOINER do and will forever warrant and defend unto him the said KINCHEN EDWARDS his heirs executors administrators and assigns forever nevertheless the life estate of the said ELIZABETH widow of the said HARDY JOINER in testamony whereof me the said EXUM L.
