This Indenture made and entered into this 25th day of March 1869 between 
Reuben Strickland and his wife Nancy Strickland of the first part and William 
B. Strickland of the second part.  Witnesseth that for and in consideration of 
seventy five dollars to us in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby fully 
acknowledged, have granted bargained sold and by these presents doth sell and 
convey to the said William B. Strickland and his heirs and assigns forever a 
certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Nash & State 
of North Carolina joining the lands of John Dozier and others and bounded as 
follows.  Beginning at a corner in Osbourne Patterson & Co. line thence down 
the Horsepen branch to a center ditch then to John Doziers line thence west to 
Dozier & Finches line to Osbourne & Patterson & Co. corner in Finches line 
thence south to the beginning containing forty acres be the same more or less.  
To have and to hold the same free from the claim or claims of all persons with 
the further understanding that the said William is to allow the said Reuben & 
his wife Nancy to have the privilege of using firewood during the life of the 
said Reuben & wife Nancy, and the said Reuben & wife hereby warrant and forever 
defend the right and title unto the said William B. Strickland in which they do 
by further bind themselves their heirs executors admrs. to warrant the 
aforesaid deeded premises unto the said William.  In witness whereof we have 
hereunto set our hands & seals the day and date above written.
