Rocky Mount Motor: A man by the name of Wright Cooper, who lives near Spring
Hope, was killed Monday night. Spring Hope has what is known as the stock low,
and Mr Cooper's sheep went into the town, were taken up by an officer and
impounded. That night when the owner of the sheep went to get them and found the
officer there, words passed between them and Mr Cooper pulled his pistol on the
officer when he (the officer) fired and killed him.
