Williamsburg - Inez Baines Gilpatrick died May 20 at Morningside of 
Williamsburg.

She was a native of Nash County, NC, but had lived in Williamsburg for more 
than 50 years.

Inez retired from Eastern State Hospital, where she served in various nursing 
administrative positions including Unit Director of Medical/Surgical Unit.  
Inez received her RN from Greystone Park in New Jersey; a BS in nursing from 
Hampton University; and a MA in Education from Hampton University.

Inez was a charter member of Grace Baptist Church in Williamsburg, VA.

Inez was preceded in death by her husband, Horace (Pat) Gilpatrick; her 
parents, Leon and Nora Baines; her sisters, Doris Chamblee and Dorthene 
Cheatham.

Inez is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Marty and Beverly Gilpatrick; 
a granddaughter, Brittany; two grandsons, Jonathan and Daniel all of Newberry, 
SC; Inez's sister and brother-in-law,Hilda and Abe Thompson of Williamsburg; 
and her brother, Marshall Baines of Rocky Mount,NC; and several nieces and 
nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 23,at 
Nelsen Funeral Home in Williamsburg.  A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. 
Thursday, May 24, at Grace Baptist Church, 1013 Penniman Road.  Interment will 
be in Williamsburg Memorial Park.
