Glasgow of Boykins, passed quietly away in her home early Thursday morning, August 29, after an illness of several months. Funeral services were held in the home at 1:00 o’clock last Friday afternoon with Rev. F.B. Handley, pastor of the Boykins Baptist Church, officiating. The members of Baptist choir sang “The Old Rugged Cross” and Mrs. H.M. Purviance sang “Sunrise.” Members of Miss Glasgow’s Sunday school class, which was the Amoma Class of the Baptist Church, acted as floral bearers. Pallbearers were: R.T. Lassiter, Turner Lassiter, Hassell Lassiter, A.P. Minshew, Jr., Hugh Barrett, Jr., J.M. White, Gussie Dodd and James Ferguson. A short service was held at the grave, conducted by the Rev. E.B. Loving of Boykins Methodist Church. Interment was made at Forest Hill Cemetery, Nashville, N.C. She is survived by her father, J.I. Glasgow; three brothers, Roy Glasgow of Boykins, Clayton Glasgow of High Point, N.C., and John Glasgow of Castalia, N.C. Mabel was a girl of lovely Christian character. Even during her last months of suffering, she always kept her sweet, thoughtful disposition. She will be greatly missed by her numerous friends.
