FILED IN NASH CO., NC. OPEN COURT - FEBRUARY 1819 In the name of God, Amen, I, George Gardaner (sic), of Nash County and State of North Carolina, being of sound and perfect mind and memory (blessed be (it) be (to) God), do this twenty fourth day of March in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Seventeen make and publish this my Last Will and Testament in manner following. That is to say: First, I lend my plantation whereon I now live containing five hundred and thirty nine acres to be the same more or less adjoining the land of John Ward, Elias Boon (Boone?) and others, to my beloved wife, Sarry Gardinor (sic) during her natural life and after her death, I give the same to my son, Holman Gardaner (sic), to him (and) his heirs and assigns forever. Item: I give and bequeath to my son, George Gardaner (sic), my tract of land called the Blanton Place, adjoining the lands of Jos. Arrington, John Davis, and others containing five hundred and sixty eight acres be the same more or less, to him his heirs and assigns forever; also, one Negro man by the name of Lquier (sic); also, one sorrel horse, bridal and saddle; one feather bed and furniture; one cow and calf, to him (and) his heirs and assigns forever. Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter, Sophronia Gardaner (sic), one Negro woman called Nancy, and her two children: one boy named Mingo, and girl called Marica and their increases from this date; one feather bed and furniture, and one hundred dollars to be paid to her out of my estate; also one cow and calf, to her (and) her heirs and assigns forever. Item: I give and bequeath to my son, Holman Gardaner (sic), one Negro boy by the name of James; one bed and furniture; one cow and calf; and one hundred dollars to him (and) his heirs and assigns forever. Item: I give and bequeath to my two grandchildren, Sally Arrington and Noel Arrington, one hundred dollars each to be paid to them out of my estate, to them (and) their heirs forever. Item: I give and bequeath to my two duaghters, Polly P. Darren and Martha Avent, the land and plantation I purchased of Nathan Ward containing one hundred and seventy acres be the same more or less - share and share alike, to them (and their) heirs and assigns forever. Item: My will and desire is that all the property that I have given to my children that has left me of whatsoever kind should be theirs (?) and I give them the same. Item: All the rest and residue of my estate of whatsoever (next word is not legible) after my just debts and legacies are paid, I lend to my beloved wife, Sally Gardaner (sic) as long as she lives and after her death, it is my will and desire that it should be sold and first -2- pay to Deusela (sic) Capbell, two hundred dollars; and the balance of it, it is my will and desire (that) it should be equally divided between my son, Holman Gardaner (sic), Polly P. Darin, Martha Avent, and Sophronia Gardaner (sic), and give them the same, to them, their heirs and assigns forever. And, I hereby make and ordain my friend, Joseph Arrington, Executor of this my Last Will and Testament in witnesses whereof the said George Gardaner (sic) have to this my Last Will and Testament set my hand and Seal the day and year above written.
