Peyton annfpeyton@comvast.net July 17, 2011, 7:01 pm Source: Personal Written: 1807 Recorded: 1808 Wills of Peter Hopkins: Nash County, North Carolina Transcription of the Will of Peter Hopkins, Written/Signed 9 November 1807, Recorded February Court, 1808, Available at the North Carolina State Archives In the name of god amen and in the year of our Lord god one Thousand Eight hundred and Seven I Peter Hopkins of the County of nash and State of north Carolinia I am Sick and weak in body but of sound and perfect memory thanks be to god for the same and is about to make this my last will and testament First of all my dets (sic) to be paid. Then I Dispose of my property in the manner following to wit . . . . . . I give and bequeath to my son John Hopkins two hundred and fifty acres of land more or less being in the County of Wake on Little River beginning at a corner hickery(sic) in Mathew Stricklands line thence north along said line to a corner water oak in ______ (Griffin ?) Branch thence up the Various(?) of said branch to a corner pine thence east along said Stricklands line to a corner pine thence south along a line of marked trees to a corner scrub oake (sic) trees in Joseph Hopkins line thence west along a line of marked trees to the first Station also one negro girl named Eady one mare and Stock of other kind one feather bed and furniture which he have all ready received . . . I give and bequeath to my son Joseph Hopkins two hundred and fifty acres of Land more or less being in the County of Wake bounded by Matthew Strickland land on west by John Hopkins land on the north and by William Hopkins land on the south also one negro boy named Robert, one horse and Stock of other kind one feather bed and furniture which he has all ready received I give and bequeath to my Son Wiley Hopkins five hundred and Sixty Eight acres of land it being the County of Wake joining Matthew Strickland land on the north Jessye (?) burns land on the east. Israel Pruitt on the South and John Hopkins land to the West also one horse and Stock of other kind. two feather beds and furniture which he have all ready received . . . I give and bequeath to my son William Hopkins three hundred acres of land more or less lying in the County of Wake near Little River bounded by Matthew Stricklands land in the west by Jospeh Hopkins land in the north and by George Bells on the south. I also give my sun William Hopkins three Hundred acres of land more or less lying in the county of Nash Joining John Tices (?) land on the East and lying Each side of the Jumping (?) branch one hundred acres of said land John Tice have not made me aright to yet but says he will at any time when Could (?) upon also one horse and Stock of other kind one feather bed and furniture which ( words "he have" crossed out) the three hundred acres of land in the County of wake horse stock bed and furniture he have received I give and bequeath to my son Peter Hopkins two hundred acres of land more or less lying and being in the county of Wake bounded by the Little River on the west by Burrell Fowler land on the north and by George Crusup (?) on the South also one negro boy named toney one horse and Stock of other kind one feather bed and furniture to have all ready received . . . I give and bequeath to my son David Hopkins fore(sic) hundred acres of land lying in the County of Nash and Jonson County on each side of ?oisson (possibly Moisson) Creek joining Handy Pigeon land Burrell Strickland also two negro boys one named Haywood the other named Arthur , one mare and Stock of other kind one feather bed and furniture which he have received . . . I give and bequeath to my Daughter Elizabeth Tice (or Rice) one negro boy named York, one feather bed and furniture one horse and Stock of other kind she have already received . . . I give and bequeath to my Sun Alsey Hopkins two negros one negro man named James one negro boy named Jacob one mare and stock of other kind one feather bed and furniture . . . I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary Hopkins one negro woman named Rachal one negro girl named Cherry also one feather bed and furniture one horse and four cows and calves. I give and bequeath to my Daughter Susannah Hopkins one negro woman named Silvy one negro boy named Jack and one negro girl named Clary one horse and fore cows and calves one feather bed and furniture . . .
