In the name of God Amen. I Stephen Wells of the County of Nash and State of North Carolina being in a low state of health but of sound mind and memory blessed be God so this the sixth day of March one Thousand eight hundred and Fifty Make and publish this my last will and Testament in form and manner following to wit First that my Executor herein after named shall pay all my Just debts whatsoever and to whomever rising out of the monies that may first come into their hands as a part or parcel of my estate Item I give and bequeath my beloved wife Mary Wells her feather beds bedstead and furniture her choice two black walnut tables and Two hundred dollars in money to her and her heirs forever I give and bequeath unto my son Bartley Wells five dollars currant money of said state to him and his heirs forever I give and bequeth [Bequeath] unto my son Redmon D. Wells one feather bed bedstead and furnature one Negro boy by the name of Dennis and one hundred dollars in money to him and his heirs forever Item I lend to my beloved wife Mary Wells all my land and plantation whereon I now live and the following Negroes first, old Jacob and Rodah his wife, Harty Harritt and her child Tom Abram and little Jacob and their further increase and all the balance of my estate both real and personal of all kinds that I have not desposed of in the above items to her during her Natural life or widowhood at the death of my beloved wife Mary Wells or that of her widdowhood I give and bequeath all of my my said estate both real and personal that I have left to her during her natural life or widdowhood to my son Redmon D Wills to him and his heirs forever And lastley I do hereby constitute one appointment my son Redmond D. Wills and my friend J.J.Q.Taylor Executors of this my last will and testament according to the true intent and meaning of the same and every part and clause thereof hereby declaring utterly void all other wills and testaments by me heretofore made In witness whereof I the said Stephen Wells here unto set my hand and seal this day and date above written Signed sealed published and declared in the presents of} Stephen 3 (his mark) Wells Nelson Bone William Asbury Pridgen Dewey Pridgen State of North Carolina} Court of Pleas & quarter Nash County} Sessions May Term 1853 A paper writing perporting to be the last will and testament of Stephen Wells is offered for probate on the testimony of Nelson Bone and William A. Pridgen two of the subscribing witnesses thereto and is duly proved & ordered to be recorded. & Redmond D. Wells one of the execu- tors thereon named is duly qualified. J.J.Q.
