STEPHEN WELLS, SR.

(Note: This will was folded, torn and in very bad shape. I have 
added as much of the content as I could read.)

In the Name of God Amen, I Stephen Wells Sen. of the
Nash and State of North Carolina being week of
Bodily Strength; but of sound mind and memory
blessed be god, do this Eighteenth Day of March in the year
of our Lord one thousand Eight Hundred and
{folded} ... this my last Will and
Testament in manner following that is to say
First, I lend to my beloved wife Elizabeth Wells
my plantation where on I now live her life
time also I lend her one Negro Woman named
Silve, also one Negro girl named Lett also one
I give and bequeath to my Son Jeremiah Wells
{torn} ....I now live being

also I give to him the afore said Negro woman Silve
and Negro girl Lett and each of their increase that
they shall have from this present day and date also
my still to him and his Heirs for ever
Item.  I give and bequeath to my son Stephen Wells
one hundred acres of land ajoining Vick, Pridgen and
Joshua Wells lines it lying in the said County also
one negro girl R..d Longwood her increases and
one Horse his choice of three young horses, also
one feather bed and furniture to him and his
heirs forever
Item I give and bequeath to my son John Wells
one Negro boy named Harry to him and his
heirs for ever
Item I give and bequeath to my daughter M...{torn}
Daughtery one young horse after my son ... {torn}
Wells jun takes his horse to her and her heirs
for ever
Item I give and bequeath to my Daughter Milly
Moy ?one Feather bed and furniture to her
and her heirs for ever--
Item My Estate that I have not here to fore
...tent to my wife Elzabeth Wells.   ... give a-
way to my Children.  I lend to my wife
Elizabeth Wells her life time and after her
decease it is my Will and desire that their be
and equal division among four of my
Children: John Wells, Stephen Wells, Jeremi-
ah Wells & Martha Daughtery to each of
....{torn}
Item I here by make and Ordain my two sons
John Wells & Jeremiah Wells executors to this
my last will and testament.  Witness my
hand and seal the day and year above 
written.

in the presents of us}
