STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA, NEW HANOVER COUNTY, COURT OF PLEAS & QUARTER 
SESSIONS    
March Term, 1804
Upon the petition of SUSANNA QUIN, WILLIAM G. BERRY and MARY A WALKER, 
ordered, that a Negro Fellow, known by the name of POMPEY, the property of the 
said Petitioners be Emancipated and set Free from Slavery. And that he 
hereafter bear the name of POMPEY HASELL. A true copy from the minutes. Given 
at Office, under the Seal of the said County, this 16th day of July, A.D., 
1804.
