Nelson PADGETT to son Spicer PADGETT both of New Hanover County, NC

Know all men by these presents that I, Nelson PADGETT of the State & County 
aforesaid for & in consideration of the sum of two hundred & fifty dollars 
to me in hand paid by Spicer PADGETT of the State & County aforesaid the 
receipt whereof is here in acknowledged have bargained sold and conveyed and 
and by these presents do bargain sell convey & confirm unto the son of 
Spicer PADGETT half of two certain tracts or parcels of land situated in the 
State & County aforesaid on the north side Holly Shelter Creek the first 
piece beginning at a cypress on the north side of Holly Shelter Creek at 
small branch running on north course to the east line thence east to the 
first station of the patent thence down the creek the various course of the 
creek to the —— corner by estimation two hundred acres more or less, this 
second is for half of the above described land. The second piece being on 
the north side of Holy Shelter Creek containing by estimation three hundred 
acres is conveyed by James DICKSON & Archibald M. HOOPER to Jas. J. MCKAY, 
—— MCKAY to Lott WILLIAMS, David WILLIAMS, to Robert L. SHINPLESS? said 
SHONPLESS to Spicer & Nelson PADGETT, the said Nelson PADGETT now conveys 
one half of said track to Spicer PADGETT and by reference to said tracts 
will more fully appear. To have & to hold the said tracts of land in the 
then appurtenances unto the said Spicer PADGETT her heirs & assigns forever 
and the son of Nelson PADGETT himself his heirs, executors, administrators 
doth consider or agree to & with the son of Nelson PADGETT his heirs and 
assigns, which tracts or parcels of land with the improvements, privileges & 
appurtenances whereunto belonging. I do hereby warrant in & defend against 
all persons claims or demands whatsoever unto the said Spicer PADGETT his 
heirs and assigns forever.
In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand, seal, this 16th day 
January 1841
