UU, p. 307-308 11 June 1864 Hester PICKETT of New Hanover Co., NC to her son Wm. R. PICKETT of Duplin Co., NC State of North Carolina This Indenture made on the 11th day of June in the year of Our Lord, One Thousand eight hundred and sixty four between Hester PICKETT of the County of New Hanover and state aforesaid of the first part and her son Wm. R. PICKETT of the county of Duplin and State of N. Carolina of the second part. Witnessth that the said Hester PICKETT for and in consideration of the natural love and affection I have and bear for and towards my said son Wm. R. PICKETT, and for the further consideration of the sum of One Dollar to me in hand paid the receipt of which is hereby fully acknowledged have given granted bargained conveyed delivered and confirmed and by these presents doth give grant bargain convey align and confirm unto my said son Wm. R. PICKETT his heirs assigns to a certain track or parcel of land in New Hanover County, NC, north of Holly Shelter Creek and on the South side of the White Oak Swamp and partly in said swamp. Beginning at a water oak in Thomas RAMSEY’S old line and runs South 55 West 290 poles to a pine thence north 44 west 142 poles to a bay thence N 46 east 210 poles to a stake in James JAMES’S line and thence to the first station containing by estimation Two Hundred acres to the same more or less to have and to hold said lands and premises and all and singularly the improvements and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining to him the said Wm. R. PICKETT his heirs assigns to his and their own proper use and behoof in fee singular forever and the said Hester PICKETT her heirs and assigns shall and will warrant and forever defend the premises hereby conveyed from the lawful claim or claims of all other persons whatsoever. In testimony whereof the said Hester PICKETT doth hereunto set her hand and seal the date first above written.
