Benjamin ROCHEL to Jacob JAMES, both of New Hanover Co., NC
8 Aug. 1818

This Indenture made the eighth day of August in the year of our Lord one 
thousand eight hundred and eighteen. Between Benjamin ROCHEL of the one part 
and Jacob JAMES of the other part both of the State of North Carolina and 
County of New Hanover. Witnesseth that the sd. Benjamin ROCHEL for and in 
consideration of the sum of one thousand dollars to him in hand paid the 
receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath given granted bargained sold set 
over and forever confirmed unto sd. Jacob JAMES his heirs and assigns, one 
certain Tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of New Hanover 
near Holly Shelter Creek. Beginning at a small Sweet Gum by the mouth of a 
Small Branch that runs into sd. Holly Shelter thence running north 84 East 
54 chains & 79 links to a pine thence N 4 West 75 chains to a Cyypress 
standing by sd. Holly Shelter Creek thence down the various courses of sd. 
Holly Shelter to the first Station containing by estimation three hundred 
acres of land to have and to hold the above described lands and premises to 
him the sd. Jacob JAMES his heirs and assigns with all and singular the 
rights members and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in anymore 
appertaining free and clear from the Lawful claims of me my heirs executors 
administrators and assigns and from and against the lawful or Just claim or 
claims of any person or persons Whatsoever. In Testimony whereof the sd. 
Benjamin ROCHEL both hereunto set his hand and affixed his Seal day and date 
first Written, Signed, Sealed and delivered in presence of:
