Mason http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00022.html#0005225 September 10, 2021, 4:23 pm Written: 1840 New Hanover Register of Deeds, Bk Z, pg 393 Petition State of North Carolina County of New Hanover Whereas at the Fall Term AD 1840 of the Court of Equity for the county of New Hanover aforesaid a decree was made in the matter then pending in said court upon the Petition of Isaac Rochell, John Rochell and Amos Rochell as the Guardian of Jacob Rochell and Benjamin Rochell praying for the sale of certain tracts or parcels of land described in said Petition directing and empowering the Clerk and Master of said court to make title to the purchasers of the several tracts set forth in the report of the Commissioners as confirmed by said Court under a certain condition and restrictions set forth in said decree, all of which will more fully appear reference being had to said report and decree, and whereas it appears from the report of the Commissioners that Jacob James was the purchaser of the following described tracts or parcels of land situate in the county of New Hanover aforesaid near Angola Swamp and Curry Court Branch adjacent to Hog Branch, Thomas James corner of his survey of 100 acres, Greens Branch, John Benton's line, Spring Branch, Thomas Ramsey's line and containing by estimation 300 acres, being the last and fifth piece of land described in the deed from Jacob James to Benjamin Rochell dated 8 August 1818 in the New Hanover County Register of Deeds Book 2, page 223. Also all the right, title and interest of the Petitioners as aforesaid in and to twenty five acres of an undivided tract of land in the county aforesaid and containing one hundred acres adjoining the lands of the said Jacob James and the lands of Bryant Wooten being all the right and title of John J. James in and to the said tract of 100 acres which was formerly the property of Thomas Ramsey. And whereas he said Jacob James has in all things complied with the requirements of said decree, now therefore this Indenture witnesseth that I William C. Lord Clerk and Master in Equity for the county of New Hanover aforesaid by virtue of the power and authority aforesaid and every other power me hereinto enabling in consideration of the sum of one hundred and fifty seven dollars (being the amount of the purchase money of the two tracts herein before described as set forth in the report of the Commissioners) paid by the said Jacob James, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, have granted, bargained, sold and conveyed and do hereby grant, bargain, sell and convey unto the said Jacob James his heirs and assigns, the two tracts of land herein before described together with all the profits, privileges and appurtenances to the same. In witness whereof the said William C. Lord has hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year herein before written. Signed and sealed and delivered in the presence of Wm. A. Wright.
