New Hanover County

Know all men by these presents that I, Jacob ROCHELLE of the State 
and County aforesaid in consideration of the sum of on hundred & 
thirty dollars to me in hand paid by Thomas H. CASTEEN of the State 
aforesaid & county of Duplin the receipt whereof is hereby 
acknowledged have bargained sold conveyed & confirmed unto the said 
Thomas H. CASTEEN his heirs & assigns a certain tract or parcel of 
land lying and being in the County of New Hanover on the East of 
Angola Pocosin on both sides of Great Dog Branch beginning at Samuel 
SRAUSE? Corner pine near Buckhorn Branch thence beginning south 76 
East 180 poles to a double cypress in Great Dog Branch thence (South 
14 west 180 poles to a pine thence North 76 west 180 poles to the 
first station containing by Estimation two Hundred acres -) the same 
more or less to him the said Thomas H. CASTEEN his heirs & assigns 
to have & to hold the above described land and premises with all the
appurtenances improvements privileges and appurtenances thereunto 
belonging and I the said Jacob ROCHELLE do warrant and defend the 
above described land free from all claims of any person on my heirs 
or assigns (except that which is held by an older P.? CASTEN?) to the 
said Thomas H. CASTEEN his heirs & assigns. In Witness whereof to I 
have herein signed, seal, November 6, 1850.
