Know ye all men by these presents that I Isaac ROCHELLE of the State & 
County aforesaid for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and 
seventy three dollars to me in hand paid by Larkins LANIER of the State and 
County aforesaid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have bargained, 
sold and conveyed and by these presents do bargain sell, convey and confirm 
unto the said Larkins LANIER two certain tracts of parcels of land situated 
in said county on the east side of the North East River. The first piece 
beginning at John BENTON corner then S 76º W 114 poles to a pine then N 12º 
W 26 poles to a pine, then N 85º W 150 poles BENTONS other corner, then N 
80º 178 poles, then N 111º W 90 poles to a pine, then 80º W 178 poles, then 
N 60º 180 poles to the Hoghouse Meadow Branch, the up the said Branch N 140 
poles to a KENNAN line, then S 65º E 365 poles to S. BENTONS line then 
direct to the beginning contain gin two hundred and forty one acres more or 
less course taken from the patent. Second piece beginning at a gum on the 
run of Dog Branch, Jacob JAMES corner, then N 82º E 146 poles to a pine by 
the side of Green Branch -- of said branch N 35º E 90 poles to a pine by the 
side of said branch, then W -- 80 poles to pain John JAMES corner, then N 
64º W 180 poles to a stake by a small branch, then N 100 poles to a stake, 
then S 65º W 180 poles to a pine by Hoghouse Meadow Branch, then N 3º E 180 
poles to a stake on the run of Dog Branch, then down the said branch to the 
beginning containing two hundred and fifty eight acres more or less, which 
tract or parcels of land with the improvements privilege and appurtenances 
there unto belonging I do hereby warrant and defend against all persons 
claims or demands whatever unto the said Larkin LANIER his heirs and assigns 
forever. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this the 
15th day of April 1842.
