DEED
John ROCHELLE to Jacob ROCHELLE

State of North Carolina
New Hanover County
Know all men by these presents that I, John ROCHELLE of the county aforesaid, 
for and in consideration of One Hundred & fifty Dollars to me in hand paid by 
Jacob ROCHELLE of sd. County, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have 
bargained sold and confirmed and by these presents do bargain, sell, convey & 
confirm unto the sd. Jacob ROCHELLE, a certain piece or parcel of land 
situated in sd. county on the East side of Angolar Pocosin. Beginning at a 
Water Oak at the mouth of Buck Horn Branch on Gerraus? line thence up the 
meanders of sd. Branch so as will make 220 poles in a straight line to a Water 
Oak and Poplar in the mouth of a small drain above the road, the N 70 East 140 
poles to a Gum and pine in Dog Branch above watering hole, then down the 
meanders of said Branch to a Cypress, Jacob JAMES’S Corner, then with his line 
West to the old Swan bin, then with said line to the beginning, containing by 
estimation two Hundred & fifty acres, being the tract or parcel of land 
conveyed by Stephen T. WOOD to Benjamin ROCHELLE which tract or parcel of land 
with all the improvements, privileges & appurtenances thereunto belonging or 
in anywise appertaining. I do hereby warrant and defend against all persons, 
claims or demands whatsoever unto the said Jacob ROCHELLE his heirs & assigns. 
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 15th day of 
December 1842.

In the Probate Court
September 17th, 1869
The foregoing deed in this day Exhibited for Probate before the undersigned 
Judge of Probate for said County and that proven by the Oath of Examination of 
Jacob ROCHELLE that Isaac ROCHELLE & Anna ROCHELLE the subscribing witnesses 
thereto are dead. It is further proven by the said Jacob ROCHELLE that he is 
well acquainted with the and writing of the said Isaac ROCHELLE & Anna 
ROCHELLE’s writing, often seen them write their name and that the name of the 
said Isaac ROCHELL and Anna ROCHELLE subscribed as witnesses to said Deed to 
the proper handwriting of the said Isaac ROCHELLE & Anna ROCHELLE.
