This Indenture made the 11th day of October in the year of Our Lord One 
Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty Eight between Jacob ROCHELLE of the County of 
New Hanover & State afore mentioned of the first part and William R. PICKETT 
of the aforesaid county & State of the second part. Witnesseth that I, Jacob 
ROCHELLE the party of the first for and in consideration of the sum of Two 
hundred & two dollars to me in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby fully 
acknowledged hath bargained sold revised, & released conveyed unto the said 
William R. PICKETT a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the 
County of New Hanover and State aforesaid and on the East side of the North 
East River in Angola Percossin adjoining the lands of Isaac ROCHELLE, Sr. and 
William FARRIOR; Beginning at a stake in Isaac ROCHELLE'S corner and running 
thence South 35º East 180 poles to a stake Isaac ROCHELLE'S corner in William 
FARRIOR'S line. Thence South 55º West 80 poles to a Black Gum Tree on the West 
side of Bear Ridge thence North 50 1/2º WEST 36 poles to a stake thence a 
straight line to the beginning containing by estimation 66 acres be it more or 
less. Which Tract of land with al the improvements privileges and 
appertainances thereunto belonging, I warrant and defend against the just and 
lawful claims of me my Executors heirs administrators and assigns unto the 
said William R. PICKETT his heirs administrators and assigns forever.
In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and date 
above written.
